Introducing Eddie Biesiek
I've been involved with chemicals and agrichemicals throughout my working career, including
laboratory quality control and product development, manufacture, global purchasing, design
of
computer systems, warehousing, logistics, and all modes of transport.
As a registered GROWSAFE® Introductory trainer I enjoy delivering a course which explains
all
the hazards we have to be aware of when using agrichemicals. My aim is to help users
understand the relevant legislation, and assist them to become compliant and work safely.
This
training results in the 5-year GROWSAFE® Introductory certificate and Approved Handler
certificate for Agrichemicals.
As an avocado grower, I am also a user of agrichemicals, and apply the GROWSAFE®
principles
to their use on our orchard.
In addition, I am a Test Certifier under the HSNO Act (Hazardous Substances and New
Organisms Act), and am able to train and certify approved handlers, and certify premises for the
whole range of hazardous substances used on farms, forestry, orchards, horticulture blocks,
golf clubs, roads, amenity and turf areas, and industry, for example Flammable gases, liquids
and solids, oxidising agents, toxic, corrosive and ecotoxic substances
D Endorsement training for transport of Dangerous Goods is also available, as I'm a Registered Assessor for Tranzqual ITO.
My training course is Unit Standard based, moderated and approved by NZITO (New Zealand Industry Training Organisation), and can be varied to suit individual client needs. I'm a registered Workplace Assessor, and can provide assistance with labelling, Safety Data Sheets, Dangerous Goods Declarations, workplace procedures, and other documentation required for HSNO compliance.
I enjoy outdoor activities such as golf, surfcasting and trout fishing, so have a keen interest in maintaining our pristine environment - that's what HSNO is all about.
